Description
Covering 182,000 hectares, Torres del Paine is the park everyone wants
to see. An area of outstanding natural beauty, impressive rock formations,
lakes, glaciers, amazing flora and fauna and striking "Cuernos del
Paine" (two upright towers of rock). All lodges offer guides and
walking treks, as well as horse riding and other excursions.True Patagonian
country.
Getting There
The first point of entry from Chile is at Punta Arenas airport with flights
from Santiago every day. From Punta Arenas it is necessary to take either
a public bus transfer (quite cheap) from the airport or from the centre
of Punta Arenas city. Alternatively you can opt for a private transfer
to either Puerto Natales and overnight there or go directly to Torres
el Paine. The road trip from Punta Arenas takes about 3 hours to Puerto
Natales and another 3 hours to Torres del Paine.
Weather
The weather is changeable in the Park. One moment it might be nice and
sunny and the next it might be windy and rainy. You should take a waterproof,
sweater and out door clothing.
Accommodation
Most of the hosterias offer good, comfortable accommodation but for outright
luxury you would have to select the Explora hotel which offers an all-inclusive
program.
We Suggest
Consider breaking your journey in Puerto Natales and take time to enjoy
the area. |
